JAMES : GETTING AWAY WITH IT LIVE DVD - PRESS RELEASE 3
Warner Music Vision is set to release the momentous JAMES Getting Away with It Live to buy on VHS and DVD on 10th June 2002.
This is James' homecoming gig recorded at the Manchester Arena on 7th December 2001 and marked not only frontman Tim Booth's but also James' last ever live performance ending a 19 year association and making it a must see event for fans.
The track listing offers both stadium thrills and hushed introspection across their greatest hits including Say Something, Sometimes, Laid, God Only Knows and ending on the anthemic high of Sit Down. Ex band members, guitarist Larry Gott and trumpet player Andy Diagram also drew big cheers as they took to the stage for this poignant, emotional occasion.
Presented in stunning Dolby Digital 5.1 sound on DVD, Getting Away with It Live will make you feel as if the band has reunited for a one-off gig in your living room. The DVD is packed with special features including hidden Track Intros with band members discussing their inspiration for songs and two substantial behind-the-scenes documentaries. The first, Individual Stories sees each member telling their own tale of how they became involved with the band and the second, Single Piece expands further on the history of the band and song writing methods. Rounding out the impressive collection of features are promotional videos for Laid, Say Something and She's a Star plus an additional hidden Easter Egg that reveals some intriguing nicknames - Mr Pastry, Noddy and Shorty Folky Bobbins.
A top performer at retail throughout their career, their number one album 'The Best of' released in 1998 spent 111 weeks on the official UK chart selling over 700,000 units to date. This final, significant chapter in the chronicles of James, Getting Away with It Live is certain to become a smash hit on video with their many fans wanting to own a piece of musical history.
"When I'm looking at the audience, I'm just in ecstasy at some points." Tim Booth says of performing. "It's because what happens is, you play your songs to people and their appreciation and enthusiasm lifts you to another level. The audience is like your battery, it's when you become one with them, it's a state of bliss."
On his decision to leave the band Booth commented "I don't have any regrets. I really feel fulfilled; it's been an amazing ride. It just feels like I've done it". Booth's departure as frontman of James lead to the remaining members disbanding, thus heightening the collectability of this release.
"Their sets breathe the sort of variety and power that only a handful of acts can ever hope to muster" - MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS
