WHITEBOY - MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS REVIEW

THEY'RE the celebrated 'Seven' that scored the band's biggest hits again - in personnel and sound.

It's Andy Diagram's distinctive trumpet that does it, of course, but if he was going to re-emerge as James' seventh member then he couldn't have done it at a better time than on Whiteboy.

It nostalgically recreates James' most successful time - Born Of Frustration, Bring A Gun and Government Walls all spring to mind for a multitude of reasons - and is littered with semi-autobiographical snippets from Tim Booth's post-James, Hollywood bit part days ("Made a few bob, new job as a serial killer" he yells, quite likely referencing his forthcoming appearance in Batman).

If this is the kind of track they've reluctantly sat on for all those years apart, who can blame them for getting back on the bus?
