HEY MA - SCOTSMAN REVIEW
WHEN James re-formed for a comeback tour last year, they were
knocked out by the rapid response of their fans, delighted to have them back
with the possibility of many more Sit Down singalongs to come. But has their
six-year sabbatical done them any good musically? Well, Hey Ma is competent,
robust and thoroughly James-like, with Tim Booth in fluent, powerful voice
throughout. But he has nothing to get his teeth into, except the reasonably
catchy but faintly annoying Whiteboy, unsurprisingly selected as the single.
Apart from its spirited chorus, there is nothing which leaves an impression
here. 2/5
