Update 30.4.08

James played two songs - Waterfall and Laid - live on Later With Jools on BBC2 last night, and recorded a further two for possible broadcast on Friday's show.  They can be watched on the BBC I-player where there is also an interview with Tim.

Update 29.4.08

Hey Ma dropped to number 61 on the UK charts last week.   The album debuted on the Greek charts at number 8.

James will be appearing live on Later With Jools on BBC2 at 10pm this evening.

Update 26.4.08

James completed their tour with a majestic show at Aberdeen's Exhibition And Conference Centre.  Senorita was played for the first time on the tour proper and 72 was reintroduced into the set.  The complete list ran Top Of The World, Born Of Frustration, Senorita, Oh My Heart, Boom Boom, Ring The Bells, Waterfall, Bubbles, Getting Away With It (All Messed Up), 72, I Wanna Go Home, Out To Get You, Upside, Whiteboy, She's A Star, Sound and Tomorrow, followed by an encore of Come Home, Hey Ma, Sometimes and Laid.  A series of my observations and opinions from the show can be found here.

A second night on the December We Are Sound tour has been announced at Manchester Central on Saturday 20th December.

James played the penultimate gig of their sold-out tour last night at Edinburgh's Corn Exchange.  Welcomed on stage by a bagpipe player with the opening notes of Come Home, they played Come Home, Waltzing Along, Oh My Heart, Boom Boom, Ring The Bells, Waterfall, Bubbles, Born Of Frustration, Of Monsters And Heroes And Men, I Wanna Go Home, Out To Get You, Upside, Whiteboy, She's A Star, Sound and Tomorrow, followed by an encore of Top Of The World, Hey Ma, Sometimes and Laid.  A review can be found here.

The Festival Mares Vivas (July 19), Madrid (May 8) and Barcelona (May 6) have been confirmed on the official website.  The Eject Festival date in Athens is on Saturday 28th June and not Sunday 29th June as previously reported.

Update 21.4.08

According to Portuguese music paper Blitz, James are playing the Festival Marés Vivas on July 19 in the town of Vila Nova de Gaia, just outside Porto.  The appearance at Super Bock Super Rock do Porto on July 4, which had not been confirmed by the band, appears to have been cancelled as Love And Rockets have replaced James on posters for the festival.

Hey Ma has dropped from number 10 to number 33 on the second week in the UK album charts.

James performed an acoustic version of Whiteboy live on Billy Sloan's Clyde 1 FM show last night. It was also announced that the Edinburgh show will be recorded by the station for part-broadcast at some point in the future.

Hey Ma has entered the UK album charts at Number 10.

James played at Liverpool University last night and were introduced on-stage by comedian Peter Kay, whose request for Lullaby, which he got the audience to sing part of, was met by the band as part of the encore.  They played Born Of Frustration, Waltzing Along, Oh My Heart, Boom Boom, Ring The Bells, Hey Ma, Bubbles, Come Home, Of Monsters And Heroes And Men, I Wanna Go Home, Say Something, Whiteboy, Waterfall, She's A Star, Sound and Tomorrow followed by an encore of Johnny Yen, Upside, Lullaby and Sometimes.  A review can be found here.

According to Spanish ticket site www.ticktackticket.com, James have rescheduled their Spanish dates for Barcelona Razzmatazz on Tuesday 6 May and Madrid La Riviera on Thursday 8 May.  These have not been officially confirmed.

Hey Ma is sitting at number 6 in the mid-week charts.

As part of an ongoing series of "Inspirations" posters, Liam Fray, lead singer of The Courteeners, quotes Sometimes by James as his main inspiration.

James played the opening night of their UK tour at Bradford's St George's Hall.  Featuring a set comprised of most of the Hey Ma album, they played Born Of Frustration, Oh My Heart, Boom Boom, Ring The Bells, Hey Ma, 72, Bubbles, P.S, Of Monsters And Heroes And Men, Whiteboy, Waterfall, Upside, She's A Star, Tomorrow, Sometimes with an encore of Top Of The World, I Wanna Go Home and Sound.  A review can be found here.

There were a number of new t-shirts on sale - amongst them a brown shirt with the white dog from last year's HMV advert, one with the simple "too old for Hamlet, too young for Lear" line on the front, one with a band picture on the front, another with james on the front with Hey Ma in the building blocks from the album cover lower down and the tour dates on the back, a blue shirt with lyrics from a number of songs across the years on the front, a grey hoodie with a James daisy on the right breast and a skinny only vest in green with a handwritten James with the a looking like a heart with an arrow through it.

James have two videos posted on their myspace page - an interview performed by themselves and a live version of Hey Ma.

XFM have posted the session and interview that James performed for their Jason Mansford breakfast show earlier in the week.

Update 8.4.08

James received front-page coverage on the Manchester Evening News for their show at the HMV store yesterday. They also had an interview with Channel M, a local Manchester television channel.

Update 7.4.08

James played Hey Ma, Upside and Waterfall on Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie's Radio 2 show this evening.  Tim also revealed the band are looking at a US tour for August and September, although no further details were revealed at this point.  Tim selected Patti Smith's Birdland from the album Horses as his "Show and Tell" feature on the show.

Athlete are confirmed as the support for the December UK tour except the Leeds show.  Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday 25 April.

To celebrate the release of Hey Ma, James played an intimate six-song set in the basement of Manchester's HMV store before signing copies of the album.   The set featured Hey Ma, Whiteboy, Boom Boom, I Wanna Go Home, Waterfall and Upside.  A review will follow here.

James are hosting a myspace competition to win one of two signed copies of Hey Ma.

In an article on Channel 4 Teletext, Tim revealed James have written new songs over the past month, although stopped short of guaranteeing whether there would be another James album.

Last night's rather lovely acoustic session is now available on Radio 6's website for a week.   Listen in as to why Martha Wainwright is better than Pink Floyd, hear Mark speak on radio for the first time ever and Tim take the mickey out of Marc Riley's dirty secret.  The link to Friday's show works (even if the text hasn't been updated).

Update 4.4.08

Marc Riley announced James are to tour in December at Leeds Academy, Glasgow SECC, Birmingham NIA, Brixton Academy and Manchester G-Mex on Radio 6 tonight. Official confirmation is expected in the new few days.

James played a three song semi-acoustic set for Marc Riley's Brain Surgery on BBC Radio 6 tonight.  A four-piece (Tim, Jim, Larry and Mark) played semi-acoustic versions of Hey Ma, Whiteboy and Upside.

The band are playing a live show on Later With Jools Holland on Tuesday 29th April.   The dates in Madrid and Barcelona will now not take place - no indication as yet if they will be rescheduled.
