Update 30.5.01
The line-up for the Guildford Festival has now been confirmed. James headline on Saturday 4th August supported by Cast, Saw Doctors, Bert Jansch and Bernard Butler, Chumbawamba, The Chameleons and Bjorn Again. Pulp and Catatonia headline the other two nights.

The attached picture shows the promo one-track single on sale at E-bay for the forthcoming single Getting Away With It (All Messed Up) due for release on Monday 25th June. Radio airplay for the single is reported to be slow so far with no Radio 1 playlisting to date. |

The single artwork for Getting Away With It is rumoured to be based around the picture to the left taken from the official Mercury James site. The site www.jamesonline.co.uk now features a new front page and would appear to be being prepared for relaunch. A full album promo has appeared as well (and no, I don't have a copy) |
James have announced a warm-up gig at the Grimsby Auditorium on Friday 6th July as a warm-up for their performance at T In The Park the following day and Liverpool Summer Pops Festival two days later. More details in the Tour Dates section. The gig replaces the show cancelled in November due to storm damage to the venue.
The Warner Brothers compilation double album Strange Dancing - The Early Years covering James career with Factory and Sire Records between 1983 and 1988 is now scheduled for release on Monday 25 June, according to HMV.

James are one of the bands with memorabilia featured in the new Manchester branch of the Doc Marten's store in Manchester Triangle (formerly Corn Exchange) - also featured are The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Buzzcocks and Oasis. The exhibition runs until August.

The new single Getting Away With It (All Messed Up) has been delayed by one week and will now be released on Monday 25th June, one week before the album Pleased To Meet You.

James played the three songs - Getting Away With It (All Messed Up), Falling Down and Born of Frustration at Tuesday night's recording of the Later With Jools program. The band were reportedly very pleased with the way the recording went.
In the chatroom last night, Mike indicated that plans are afoot for festival dates in Greece, Mexico, the US and Canada and that there are still plans for a UK tour in December as reported exclusively here about a month ago. San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto were mentioned in the conversation. Nothing has however been confirmed.......
Mike also appeared to rule out any additional festival dates to those already announced, which are : July 7 T In The Park, July 8 Liverpool Kings Dock, August 4 Guildford Festival, August 5 Witnness Festival, Ireland and August 25 Nottingham Wollaton Park. Fans favourite track Scratchcard is also likely to appear as a b-side after being left off the album's final tracklisting.

Another promo of the new album has appeared, this time a five-track promo in a red sleeve and featuring the as yet unheard track Alaskan Pipeline. For more on the new album, click here Contrary to rumours on the official site messageboard Alaskan Pipeline is not Scratchcard which was played on the Autumn 2000 tour - it is a totally new track. |
Laid is being used in the trailers to promote the new movie American Pie 2 in the US. The song also appeared in the theatrical trailer for the original movie, although it didn't actually appear in the movie.

James are confirmed as guests on Jools Holland's BBC2 Later programme to be recorded on Tuesday 15th May and transmitted at 11.30pm on Friday 18th May and repeated on Sunday 20th May.
