JAMES : PTMY MUSIC 365 REVIEW

Eleven albums. Has it really been that many? Most people will only remember 'Sit Down' and a few variations on that baggy rock theme. But James continue. Eleven albums in the can and they're trying to become relevant once more.

Accordingly they use Brian Eno and his best electronic bag of tricks in an attempt  turn  'Pleased To Meet You' into more than a bag full of turgid anthems. And in part Eno succeeds. 'Falling Down' and 'Gaudi' are catchy and interesting.

Of course the whole album doesn't hold together as an exciting eclectic piece of work. Sadly, the single 'Getting Away with It (All Messed Up)' is much more typical than 'Gaudi', in that it's a slow-building MOR anthem that does nobody any good at all, 'cept for the type of idiot who likes slow building MOR anthems.

About three-quarters of the way through, you start to realise, eleven albums is an awful lot.
