BONE - 6 MUSIC REVIEW

Bone by name, bone by nature. The former James frontman has, with producer Lee Baker taken his music back to its core, leaving himself out front alone in terms of both sound and songwriting. The results are joyously powerful with Booth’s distinctive voice sounding strong, confident and sure in what he’s saying.

Monkey God is simply fantastic, built around the bass pulse and cyclical sounds, you quickly find yourself nodding and quietly muttering to yourself ‘yes, he’s back’.

Where fellow Mancunian Ian Brown created a Darwinian theory all of his own with dolphins and monkeys, Booth takes the higher road, underpinned with dub sound cycles.

Other top tracks to check out are title track Bone, Down To The Sea and Eh, Mamma. There’s a confidence that runs through this album and Booth and Baker suit each other very well. This is a rich and deeply satisfying musical meal.
