VERVACEOUS
First released 1999
Vervaceous features Sinead O'Connor on backing vocals. It was debuted on the Winter tour of 1998 and began life as a twenty three minute jam which Dave Baynton-Power cut down to the six minutes that appear on the album.
Saul said of Sinead's contribution to Vervaceous : "She came down to the studio on night to see Eno, He played her some of the stuff and she was dead cool. She asked if there was anything we'd like her to sing on, and we suggested 'Vervaceous'. It had previously just ended with music, quite turbulent, aggressive music, and its whole end section with her voice and these weird little pulses was Eno doing his thing. It's funny because she's got such a beautiful voice and he made her sound like a robot!"

LYRICS
Drifting through the atmosphere
Through the afterglow
Witnessing one thousand lives
Are blown, where the wind blows
Falling in between the lines
Never fitting in
Someone tells me what's my crime
Too thin
I'm too thin
Due to come back down due to come back down
Don't wanna, don't wanna land
Due to come back down, due to come back down
I don't wanna, don't wanna land
Don't wanna, don't wanna, land
Land
Land
This time I've a starring role
Hide the shape I'm in
I'm too old to sacrifice for gold, and skin
For gold
And skin
For gold
For gold
Down, don't want to come back down, don't want to land
Down, don't want to come down, down don't want to land
Down, don't want to come down, down don't want to land
Down, don't want to come down, down don't want to land
Drifting through the atmosphere
Floating through this land
Sifting through one thousand years
Of sand
All sand
Drifting through the atmosphere
Floating through this land
Sifting through one thousand years
Of sand
All sand
Drifting through the atmosphere
Floating through this land
Sifting through one thousand years
Of sand
All sand
Drifting through the atmosphere
